Boxford machine tools continue to provide reliable and cost-effective service throughout the world.
Boxford was established at its present Halifax site in the early 1940's, and the first small lathes for toolmakers, model makers and training were produced in 1946. Boxford are the UK's longest established manufacturer of machine tools for training.
The major market for the early lathes was in schools and colleges for teaching metalwork. Boxford rapidly expanded their range by developing improved models of their popular lathes and other machine tools such as milling machines, drills, shapers, and grinders. For the last two decades we have also been supplying CNC machines to industry, education and training establishments all over the world. Over 60,000 Boxford machines tools have been supplied in over 200 countries giving both reliability and durability to their users.
Our 50-year reputation for quality and value springs from a unique company structure. A single industrial complex with sheet-metal fabrication, component machining, assembly, CNC controls, electronics and software development on one site gives us direct control of all aspects of our operation.
In more recent times we have concentrated on educational and training markets and developed complete educational CAD/CAM systems that incorporate our CNC machines. Using our equipment, schoolchildren and students with no manufacturing experience can design a complex component and have our CNC machine manufacturing it within 5 minutes starting from a blank screen. Furthermore, our simulation graphics are now so realistic that it's almost like watching a video. Our "on-tap" HELP is both graphics intensive and so rich in tutorials that it's got to be seen to be believed.
Acknowledging the fact that the curriculum of some countries includes extensive coverage of traditional CNC manual programming, our systems now include a "conversational programming" feature that uses wizards that pop-up to guide inexperienced programmers through all the common programming routines and automatically output the CNC codes to perform the task at hand. This allows a single piece of equipment to be used both by novices and by trainee engineers using two different programming techniques. Accordingly, Boxford is the leading supplier of CAD/CAM systems and CNC equipment to Schools, Colleges and Universities.
Boxford equipment has been supplied to over 200 countries and we are currently represented in over 70 countries.
